Big Brother & Big Sister Mouse Explore Budapest

Budapest has a way of capturing your heart.

Grand buildings line the streets, beautiful bridges stretch across the Danube and castles rise above a city filled with history, flowers and old-world charm.

For Big Brother and Big Sister Maileg Mouse, Budapest felt a little different from the cities that had come before.

It felt romantic.

A little mysterious.

And perhaps even a little magical.

Big Brother and Big Sister Mouse have arrived in Budapest, Hungary — and it wasn't long before this beautiful city had them imagining fairytales of their own.

Budapest Has Our Heart 🤍🌸

Hidden amongst cascading flowers, two little mice found a quiet place to sit and watch Budapest go by.

Sometimes when travelling, it isn't the famous landmark or carefully planned photograph that becomes a favourite.

Sometimes it is simply a beautiful little corner you happen to find.

Surrounded by flowers, Big Brother and Big Sister seemed perfectly content to stay there for a while.

Perhaps that is the magic of Budapest.

You don't need to be in the middle of everything to fall in love with it.

Sometimes the loveliest moments are found tucked away — beneath cascading flowers, behind an old doorway or wandering a street you never planned to find.

A City From Another Time

There is something wonderfully old-world about Budapest.

Beautiful buildings, ornate façades, grand entrances and streets filled with details that make you stop and look twice.

For two little travellers who have already explored some extraordinary European cities, Budapest still managed to feel different.

There seemed to be another beautiful building around every corner.

And, of course, plenty of magnificent old doors worthy of a closer inspection by two particularly curious mice.

Travelling with Big Brother and Big Sister has taught us that sometimes you don't need a destination.

You simply need a street you've never walked down before.

Along the Danube

It would be impossible to explore Budapest without discovering the Danube.

Flowing through the heart of the city, the river separates Buda and Pest and provides some of Budapest's most beautiful views.

For two very small mice, everything beside the river seemed particularly grand.

The bridges.

The buildings.

The boats passing along the water.

And across the river, the magnificent architecture that has made Budapest one of Europe's most recognisable cities.

Sometimes even adventurous mice need to stop exploring for a moment and simply enjoy the view.

A City of Castles 🏰

Then came the castles.

Budapest is filled with the sort of architecture that makes it very easy for two imaginative little mice to forget that fairytales aren't supposed to be real.

Towers, grand staircases, beautiful stonework and magnificent buildings overlooking the city.

It wasn't long before Big Brother and Big Sister's imaginations began to wander.

Perhaps somewhere behind one of those castle walls lived a Maileg Princess Mouse.

Perhaps she had a beautiful Maileg Unicorn.

And surely, if this really were a fairytale, there would be a Maileg Pumpkin Carriage waiting nearby to whisk her away.

Budapest had officially inspired another Mouse House story.

Finding the Quiet Corners

As beautiful as Budapest's grand buildings and famous sights are, some of our favourite moments were much smaller.

A doorway.

A flower-filled corner.

An old street.

A quiet place to sit.

Big Brother and Big Sister have become very good at finding these little places on their travels.

Perhaps that's because when you're only a few inches tall, you notice a different side of a city.

The things most people walk past can become the beginning of an entirely new adventure.

Budapest Through Little Eyes

Budapest feels romantic without trying.

A little old-world, a little mysterious and completely unforgettable.

Through the eyes of Big Brother and Big Sister Mouse, it became a city of flowers, castles, beautiful streets and quiet corners.

And somewhere between the grand buildings and the cascading flowers, Budapest managed to inspire something else.

A fairytale.

A princess.

A unicorn.

And a pumpkin carriage.

Perhaps travelling is not only about discovering new places.

Sometimes it gives us new stories to take with us.
