Should You Colour Coordinate Your Maileg Collection?
Should Everything Match, or Should You Simply Collect What You Love?
If you've started collecting Maileg, you've probably asked yourself this question at least once.
Should everything match?
Should you choose only blush pink furniture?
Stick with soft mint greens?
Or carefully build every room around one perfectly coordinated colour palette?
It's a question I found myself asking as Mouse House Village slowly began to grow.
The more furniture, accessories and little mice we welcomed home, the more I wondered whether everything should follow a plan.
The answer surprised me.

The Beauty of the Maileg Colour Palette
One of the things that makes Maileg so unique is its beautifully considered colour palette.
Soft blush pinks.
Muted mint greens.
Warm creams.
Natural timber.
Gentle greys.
Vintage-inspired florals.
Rather than competing with one another, every colour has been designed to work together. Whether a piece was released this season or several years ago, it often feels perfectly at home beside the rest of your collection.
That's one of the reasons Maileg collections grow so naturally over time.
Some Collectors Love Everything to Match
There is something undeniably beautiful about a carefully coordinated Mouse House.
A nursery decorated entirely in soft blush.
A mint green kitchen.
Neutral bedrooms filled with warm timber furniture.
A colour-coordinated collection creates a calm, elegant display and allows every room to tell its own visual story.
If that style brings you joy, then it's the perfect way to collect.

Our Mouse House Village Grew a Little Differently
At Mouse House Collective, we discovered that we don't really shop by colour.
We shop by heart.
If a tiny chair makes us smile, it comes home.
If an old-fashioned cupboard feels like it belongs in Grandma's house, we find a place for it.
If Chef Gaston needs another little baking accessory... somehow it always manages to squeeze into the bakery.
We simply choose the pieces that inspire another story.
Over time, something rather lovely happened.
Without ever planning it, every colour seemed to belong together anyway.
The Day I Nearly Reorganised Everything
Recently, while giving Mouse House Village a thorough clean, I placed all of the furniture into little colour groups before putting it away.
There were neat piles of blush pink.
Stacks of mint green.
Warm creams.
Natural timber.
For a few minutes I seriously considered reorganising the entire village by colour.
It looked beautiful.
But as I started putting everything back where it belonged, I realised something.
I actually preferred it mixed together.
The village felt warmer.
More relaxed.
More like a real family home that had grown over many years rather than being carefully styled for a photograph.
That's when I realised something else.
Perhaps the magic of Maileg isn't that everything matches perfectly.
Perhaps it's that everything somehow belongs together.

Every Collection Tells a Different Story
One of the things we love most about Maileg is that no two collections are ever the same.
Some collectors enjoy perfectly coordinated displays.
Others create seasonal rooms.
Some collect every shade they can find.
Many simply choose the pieces that make them smile.
There isn't a right or wrong approach.
Your Mouse House becomes a reflection of your own imagination, your family and the stories you choose to tell.
That's what makes every collection unique.
Our Advice? Collect What Makes You Smile
If you're only just beginning your Maileg journey, don't feel pressured to choose a colour palette before you've even chosen your first mouse.
Collect the pieces that genuinely make you smile.
Choose the chair you love.
The tiny lamp that catches your eye.
The tricycle that reminds you of childhood.
The little mouse that somehow already feels like part of the family.
You'll probably discover what we did.
Maileg has a remarkable way of making everything feel as though it belongs together.
After all, the most beautiful Mouse Houses aren't necessarily the ones that match perfectly.
They're the ones filled with favourite pieces, treasured memories and little stories waiting to be told.
