Should You Colour Coordinate Your Maileg Collection?

Should You Colour Coordinate Your Maileg Collection?

One of the questions I often find myself asking as I add new pieces to Mouse House Village is...

Should I colour coordinate my Maileg collection?

Should I collect only the beautiful blush pink pieces?

Should I stick to soft mint greens?

Should everything match perfectly?

Or should I simply buy the pieces I fall in love with?

The truth is...

There really isn't a right or wrong answer.

The Beauty of the Maileg Colour Palette

One of the things I love most about Maileg is that every collection seems to complement the next.

The soft blush pinks, muted mint greens, warm creams, gentle greys and natural wood tones all work together beautifully. Nothing feels loud or out of place. Instead, each new piece quietly finds its place within your little world.

It's one of the reasons Maileg collections grow so naturally over time.

Do You Love Everything to Match?

Some collectors enjoy creating rooms with a carefully planned colour palette.

Perhaps a nursery filled with soft pink furniture.

A mint green kitchen.

A warm neutral bedroom.

There is something wonderfully calming about a coordinated collection, and it creates a beautifully styled display.

If that brings you joy, then it's exactly the right way to collect.

Or Do You Buy What You Love?

This is the approach we've taken in Mouse House Village.

We don't shop by colour.

We shop by heart.

If a little chair makes us smile, it comes home.

If a tiny cupboard tells a story, it finds a place.

If Chef Gaston needs a new kitchen accessory, somehow it always manages to squeeze into the bakery.

Over time, we've discovered something rather lovely.

All of the colours seem to belong together anyway.

Sometimes the Best Displays Aren't Planned

Recently, while giving Mouse House Village a thorough clean, I accidentally grouped all of our furniture into colour piles.

There were little collections of blush pink.

Stacks of soft mint.

Warm creams and natural timber.

For a moment, I wondered if I should reorganise the entire village by colour.

But as I started putting everything back where it belonged, I realised something.

I actually preferred it mixed together.

The village felt more lived in.

More relaxed.

More like a real little home.

Your Collection Tells Your Story

Every Maileg collection becomes a reflection of the person building it.

Some people love symmetry.

Some love perfectly coordinated rooms.

Others enjoy collecting every colour they can find.

None of those choices are wrong.

That's part of the magic.

Mouse House Village certainly isn't perfect, and we wouldn't want it to be.

Every new piece has found its place over time, creating a home that has grown naturally rather than following a plan.

Collect What Makes You Smile

If you're only just beginning your Maileg journey, don't feel pressured to choose one colour and stick with it.

Collect the pieces that make you stop and smile.

Whether they're blush pink, mint green, warm cream or something completely different, you'll probably discover what we did...

Maileg has a wonderful way of making everything feel like it belongs together.

After all, the most beautiful collections aren't always the ones that match perfectly.

They're the ones filled with memories, favourite pieces and little stories waiting to be told.
